2019 UNEMPLOYMENT TAX RATES

Effective January 1, 2019, the Acting Commissioner of the Virgin Islands Department of Labor, Gary Molloy, would like to inform all Virgin Islands employers of the 2019 unemployment insurance tax rates. This is pursuant to his authority in 24 V.I.C. §308.

The rates will be as follows:

The unemployment tax rate for new employers will remain at 2.0% for 2019, under Act 7410 (24 V.I.C. §308(b)(2)).

The unemployment tax rate for experienced contributory employers (those who have been in business three (3) years or more) will increase from 1.5% to 2.5%. The Department of Labor apologizes for any inconvenience that this late announcement may cause.
