LABOR INVESTING FOR TOMORROW (LIFT) INTERNSHIP PROGRAM 2018
Labor Commissioner Catherine Hendry, Esq., announces that the Department of Labor is now accepting applications for the Labor Investing for Tomorrow (LIFT) summer internship
program.
Now in its twenty-ninth (29th) year, the LIFT program continues to provide collegejuniors, seniors, and graduate students with meaningful work/internship experience in theirchosen career field. Interns can gain college credits, acquire hands on–training, and theopportunity to network with professionals in their respective careers.
LIFT interns will be paid $12 per hour,based on number of years in school. Theparticipants will work 35 hours weekly for approximately 6-8 weeks. All LIFT interns will berequired to participate in a special project, amentorship initiative, and community serviceactivities. Additionally, all participants in the programs are provided with Life SkillsManagement & Career Orientation Workshops, Workplace Preparation Skills, and OccupationalSafety & Health Regulation (OSHA) training.
Eligibility criteria are as follows: Interns must presently be a college junior, senior or agraduate student; must have a minimum GPA of 2.80 on a 4.00 scale; and must be between theages of 18 – 25, inclusive. Application deadline is March 23, 2018.
Interested juniors, seniors or graduate students mustcomplete the LIFT application onlineon the department’s www.vidolviews.org. Completed applications, transcripts and required essay should be submitted to liftvi@vidol.gov by March 23, 2018.
