VIDOL Commissioner opens dialogue with business owners to better understand Territory’s employment security needs.

The Virgin Islands Department of Labor (VIDOL) Commissioner, partners with the U.S. Department of Labor, to host a series of forums to discuss a new methodology for assigning individual Employer Unemployment Insurance Tax Rate, as administered by the Virgin Islands Department of Labor’s Division of Unemployment Insurance.

VIDOL’s Commissioner, Gary Molloy, encourages local employers to attend. “The week of information sessions, will begin with a forum for policymakers to discuss the impact of possible legislation. The remaining forums will educate the business community about the new proposed methodology. The United States Department of Labor, (USDOL) will be onsite to provide additional details on the topic. Businesses are encouraged, to take this opportunity to understand the proposed legislation and how it affects them.”

The information sessions aim to answer frequently asked questions surrounding Bill #33-0090. This is a bill to be sponsored by Senator Stedmann Hodge Jr. This proposed legislation is an Act amending Title 24, Chapter 12, Sections 302 and 308 of the Virgin Islands Code.
