VIRGIN ISLANDS DEPARTMENT OF LABOR (VIDOL) ANNOUNCES WORKERS’ COMPENSATION ADMINISTRATION (WCA) 2024 UPDATES

USVI– Commissioner Gary Molloy informs the public that the established Average Weekly Wage based on employment wage statistics from our local Bureau of Labor Statistics is $993.02 per week. The maximum benefit amount for Disability Income Benefits has increased from $658.00 per week or $129.00 per day to $662.00 per week or $132.40 per day. This will affect all injuries that occurred on or about January 1, 2024.

In accordance with Title 24 Chapter 12, Section 254 (c), income benefits for temporary total disability shall be 66 2/3 percent of the employee’s weekly wage rate at the time of injury, not to exceed 66 2/3 percent of the Average Weekly Wage of the Virgin Islands, nor be less than $60.00 a week, except that if the wages earned were less than $60.00 a week. The benefits shall be awarded in a sum equal to said wages.
